Red Heeler Aquaponic Sales - Our System

Stage 2 Grow Tunnel
Stage 2 Grow Tunnel
Will increase our capacity to over 1,150 plants per week.

Our system was designed, supplied and built by The Aquaponics Shop. If you go to the Commercial Systems section of their site you will be able to see a lot of photos and read about the building of stage 1 of our system. We have not stopped there though. Our system has worked so well and interest in our produce has been so great that we are in the process of expanding to stage 2.

We have had the ground laser leveled and erected a new poly tunnel on it. We have already placed our order for more grow troughs and soon we hope to have this grow tunnel in full production too. Our full capacity at the end of stage one is 384 plants per week. By the end of stage 2 it will be 1,152 plants per week.

The stage 1 build finished in mid-January 2008. We had a few fish from our backyard system that we were able to put into the commercial system to start the bacteria growth but we were not able to get our first lot of fingerlings until early February. Since then the system has performed excellently and as it was specified by Martin and Kerri.

Proof of the system is in the eating!

So here is a basil and a lettuce that we took out of the system on the 4th of March 2008. That was only four weeks after they were put into the system as seedlings and only one month after we were able to get a reasonable number of fish into the system.

We have had many days over 30 degrees and several over 40 degrees Celsius in that time. The water temperature has never exceeded 26 degrees in the system. This good root zone temperature combined with plenty of sunshine has helped us achieve this great result.

Another fantastic thing is that, despite the ambient air temperature in the grow tunnels, the lettuces have hearted - they have not run to seed. Obviously we are very happy with the results we are getting and our clients are continuing to place more orders - perhaps the greatest compliment we can get!
